"Coffee with a Conscience"
Held in the historic township of Braidwood NSW, the Coffee Club offers free coffee, cake and the chance to chat in a non judgmental atmosphere.
The coffee meetings are based on a café run by the Salvation Army in Melbourne, called the Hamodava Café, where the founder of Wagging Tails volunteered for some time before moving to Braidwood. It is a data and experience driven model, proven to make a long-lasting difference.
Understanding the value of the model, the importance of taking away the pressure of having to pay for coffee and a meal, and the positive impact that this process had on the psychological welfare of those who frequented the café, Wagging Tails ensures that no one pays for their coffee or any food that they may order during the meeting.
Thanks to a generous starting grant from Commonwealth Bank, we are on our way to having our own coffee shop which will enable us to expand our Wagging Tails "Making A Difference" project and offer an outlet for our "Green Thumbs" project graduates to sell their products.

"Creating Futures - Renewable Food"
Inspired by the research of a number of food and garden authorities including Sustain - The Australian Food Network, this project is currently being tested in the disability and ESL space, and will be ready to launch in 2021.
The first larger scale project will be offered to women, in particular those with disability, new immigrants, refugees, single mothers, those suffering from mental health issues including depression, and those at-risk.
This pilot model will then later be offered to men in the same category, with the ability to scale up and be replicated in other regions.
The project offers independence, confidence and a sense of belonging. Participants are also offered the opportunity to become a small business owner.
Participants are taught region specific gardening skills, and free garden/glasshouse space if required.
We include optional classes offering basic business skills, with participants mentored through a process so that they are able to start their own farmers market stall or wholesale native plant business.
